Home Field Advantage (I68 Lebanon/Warren County OH)

Here's some base information about our home (away from home). First off, it's a public airport, at 898' MSL, 3 miles north west of Lebanon (39-27-43.8230N / 084-15-06.6497W), with one 65' wide north-south runway (1/19). It's just north of Mason (about 7 miles from my house) in the Dayton FSS region, and is a bit closer to Dayton that Cincinnati. It's nice for us since we work in Cincinnati, but Elizabeth's family is in north Dayton.

Attractions

We're very close to the King's Island Amusement Park and the Beach Water Park. The airport has it's own skydiving operation, Start Skydiving.Com. Also nearby is great canoeing at Morgans, and excellent cycling with over 70 miles of 'rail-to-trail' paved trails - both along the scenic Little Miami River. Oh, and there's supposed to be some decent golfing, but I can only afford one expensive hobby.

If you're here in the area late July, there's the Dayton Airshow (one of the best), and the Labor Day fireworks on the river, along with RiverFest and Tall Stacks (every 3 years, next in 2009).






Check out the airport's facilities at AirNav or the airport's website. It's got 4,500 feet of asphalt paved runway, with one full length parallel taxiway, and pilot-activated lighting. We'll flesh this out a bit more later with more information about our airport, but for now, here's a picture of the fresh paint job on our hangar floor.
